WELCOME TO THE APOSTLES' TESTIMONY OF THE SECOND COMING
Hung Nam Death Camp
February 22, 1948 to October 14, 1950
At 28 years old Sun Myung Moon was sentenced to five years imprisonment in a wellknown death camp. Most prisoners died within six months from starvation and exhaustion.
Rev. Moon’s imprisonment and torture paralleled the suffering and “crucifixion course” that Jesus walked to bring salvation to mankind.
Three times Rev. Moon was hung by his wrists behind his back and beaten until he was pronounced dead. This torture method, called the “airplane torture,” mimics the asphyxiation by crucifixion. His torturers were experienced. They concluded he was dead and threw his body back into his cell. Three hours later God and Jesus resurrected him. Each time Satan was not allowed to kill the Messiah again. Rev. Moon rose to his knees and prayed for Father God to forgive his torturers.
The lead torturer was converted to faith by these miracles.
Without sharing a word of faith about God, just by his loving actions, Rev. Moon gained 12 disciples in Hung Nam prison who were willing to risk their lives for him. This restored the foundation lost when Jesus’ twelve Apostles abandoned him at the cross.
Upon this victory, God used the Allied Air Forces to bomb Hung Nam Camp and Rev. Moon was able to escape.
Rev. Moon’s time in the hell of Hung Nam Death Camp parallels the restoration of Jesus’ three years of public ministry because he was able to gain twelve faithful disciples and overcome death.
Starting from absolute zero in war ravaged Korea, Rev. Moon walked with two disciples for two months through December and January in frigid weather with just the clothes on their backs.
From nothing, God’s champion, was able to gather tens, then hundreds, then thousands, and eventually millions of followers.
In Section 3, you will find four testimonies of this time period in the death camp and a list of the twelve disciples that Rev. Moon gained in prison.
Two testimonies are by Jung Hwa Park who was in prison with Rev. Moon. Two other testimonies are by Won Pil Kim, Rev. Moon’s closest Apostle, where he tells stories from his knowledge of prison life. In the fifth article he describes traveling on foot with Rev. Moon from North Korea all the way to Pusan after Rev. Moon’s escape.
